This Extra Small OpenSearch deployment supports up to 100 GB of hot index data on a single node, suitable for development or minimal production workloads. Compute, specifically the D4s_v5 instance, is the dominant cost driver, accounting for 78% of the total monthly cost. The single-node architecture with disabled high availability means there is no redundancy, making it vulnerable to downtime from a single point of failure. The 500 GB NVMe storage provides high I/O performance for the hot data.
